10 years of Warcraft

So thank you to Alternative Chat who gave me some inspiration to start up a WOW blog. And here are my answers for their questions. Please follow the link at the end of this post if you want to join in the survey or to connect up with a great warcraft blog.

1. Why did you start playing Warcraft?

When World of Warcraft first came out, I was dating a bit of a gamer guy so he used to have an account which I used to try and play. I was also working nights at the time so we kind of played it in shifts ;)

2. What was the first ever character you rolled?

The first character created was a dwarf warrior but the first one created on my own account was a night elf hunter.

3. Which factors determined your faction choice in game?

Being the good guy ofc! .. Alliance held more of a sway for me with the races however I would have loved and Alliance Tauren or a neutral one.

4. What has been your most memorable moment in Warcraft and why?

Ah there are lots to choose from with regards to fun encounters with friends and guildies, however I guess the most solo memorable moment would have to be the Cata expansion start.
I had ordered a box set and had to sulkily wait, whilst everyone else was rushing out to buy their copies at midnight. I was a bit miffed at this until it turned out that most of the server got locked out (there were 2 of us left in guild online). Most people I knew were stuck attempting to load in the new game and I was happily flying around Shadowmoon collecting eggs with no competition for a dragon mount. It turned out great for me in the end as one of my lovely guildies (Haich) stepped up to offer me his extra gamecode so I could log in the next day and join in with the others :)

5. What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case

I think it has to be the social aspect. This has not always been the case, I used to hate talking to people online & would never join in the voice comms or forums. However I think the community built up within the guild and the good friendships formed from it is definitely for me the biggest hold.

6. Do you have an area in game that you always return to?

Where ever my hearthstone is set! .. Though Nagrand is a place I really love as it is so tranquil. I can’t wait to (kinda) revisit it again in the next expansion

7. How long have you /played and has that been continuous?

Almost 10 years, continuously and there through thick and thin: the thin being Cata which almost killed off my healers

8. Admit it: do you read quest text or not?

Yes!I think I might be one of the few but I really love thequests. I don’t like to race through to level and you can so fast now so each expansion I tend to hold back until the rush has gone and you can actually enjoy the quests rather than ignore the text and fight for tag kills.

9. Are there any regrets from your time in game?

Only one, I regret that we were not able to complete the Firelands staff for our beloved Xent before we lost him. Sometimes real life has other unfair plans :'(

10. What effect has Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?

When I started playing it helped me to save some money as I was tending to spend it all whilst out drinking and dancing. And now it encourages me to go on holidays and days/evenings outs with friends from guild, oh and I live with one of them too. So I guess you could say it has impacted my life a lot but in a positive sense :D

Hey miss, I’ve made my set of 10 answers to match yours.

Do we have to compare notes or is this like Mr&Mrs and I have to sit in a sound proof box? :D
